متن بیانیه روابط عمومی شورای شهر مشهد در خصوص اخبار منتشر شده در فضای مجازی در مورد بازداشت یکی از اعضای شورا به شرح زیر است:
به یک نفر از اعضای شورای شهرمشهد در اواخر اسفند ۹۶ اتهامی وارد شده است که در مراجع قضایی در حال رسیدگی است، تا قبل از رسیدگی و اثبات اتهام هرگونه اظهار نظر راجع به صحت و سقم آن امکان پذیر نیست.
بدیهی است روند رسیدگی و اجرای قوانین از طریق افکار عمومی، شورای شهر مشهد و سایر مراجع قانونی رصد می‌شود.
امیدواریم همانگونه که از دستگاه محترم قضایی انتظار می‌رود این روند در مسیر صحیح وقانون‌مند و با حفظ حقوق شهروندی دنبال گردد. شورای اسلامی شهر مشهد مقدس با تاکید بر حفظ اصول و ارزش‌های انقلاب اسلامی در چارچوب قانون عمل خواهد نمود.

رئیس کمیسیون حقوقی شورای شهر مشهد نیز تازه‌ترین اخبار از عضو بازداشت شده شورای شهر را تشریح کرد.
سیدمحسن حسینی‌پویا اظهار داشت: اتهامی به یکی از اعضای شورای شهر مشهد وارد شده، مربوط به قبل از عید نوروز بوده و همان زمان نیز وی به این اتهام پاسخ داده و قراری نیز صادر شده و در جریان ریز جزئیات آن نیستیم.
رئیس کمیسیون حقوقی شورای شهر مشهد بیان کرد: ایشان معتقد بوده عمل خلاف شرعی صورت نداده است و در عین حال باید به صورت قانونی به این اتهام رسیدگی شود و در حقیقت تابع قانون هستیم. هم وی و هم شورای شهر مشهد به نتیجه‌ای که قطعاً باید توامان با حفظ حقوق شهروندی باشد پای‌بند خواهیم بود.
حسینی‌پویا خاطرنشان کرد: در بحثی که در فضای مجازی در مورد وی مطرح شده متاسفانه مباحث قانونی رعایت نشده و قبل از اینکه اتهامی به اثبات برسد، اسامی را مشخص کردند و این مسئله اصلاً صحیح نیست. وی در تمامی مباحث دفاعیاتی داشته و دارد.
رئیس کمیسیون حقوقی شورای شهر مشهد با اشاره به اینکه از اتهام وارده اطلاع ندارم، گفت: از جزئیات نیز اطلاع چندانی ندارم اما تا این مقدار می‌دانم که در فضای مجازی، مسائلی غیرواقعی و متناقض در مورد وی مطرح شده است و هیچ‌کدام قابل اتکا نیست.
