با تصمیم وزارت ورزش و جوانان، افشین داوری به عنوان سرپرست جدید فدراسیون بوکس انتخاب شد.

احمد ناطق نوری، رئیس کهنه کار فدراسیون بوکس که سابقه ۲۸ ساله در این فدراسیون داشت با حضور در وزارت ورزش و جوانان استعفای خود را ۱۰ ماه مانده به پایان دوران ریاستش به وزیر اعلام کرد که مسعود سلطانی‌فر درخواست او را قبول کرد. با استعفای ناطق نوری طبق تصمیمات وزارت ورزش و جوانان افشین داوری از سوی وزیر ورزش به عنوان سرپرست جدید فدراسیون بوکس انتخاب شد.

داوری که مطرح‌ترین کاندید برای سرپرستی فدراسیون بوکس بود پیش از منصوب شدن در این سمت(سرپرست فدراسیون بوکس)، ریاست فدراسیون دوومیدانی ایران و همچنین سرپرستی فدراسیون ناشنوایان را در کارنامه داشت.
