صید قزل آلا در ترجمه
در نشست نهم کافه کتاب آفتاب با عنوان «صید قزل آلا در ترجمه» و گفت و گو پیمان خاکسار، مترجم سرآمد و مطرح کشور به پرسش و پاسخ و بررسی ترجمه آثار ادبی پرداخته شد و پس از آن، جشن امضای کتاب «پروژه خونین او» و سایر آثار ترجمه خاکسار برگزار شد.
پیمان خاکسار که بسیاری نام او به واسطه ترجمه روان و درخشان آثاری از جمله «عامه پسند»، «اتحادیه ابلهان»، «جز از کل»، «ریگ روان» میشناسند، به پرسشهای مخاطبان خود پاسخ داد و درباره فعالیتهایش در این سالها گفت.
پرسش و پاسخ با آقای مترجم
آنچه در ادامه میخوانید پرسشهایی است که در این نشست مطرح شد و خاکسار به آنها پاسخ داد.
کار ترجمه را چگونه شروع کردید؟
من با این هدف که مترجم بشوم کار ترجمه را شروع نکردم. در شروع کار به واسطه علاقه ام ترجمه را شروع کردم و حتی به چاپ کردن ترجمههایم در یک مجله هم فکر نمیکردم. در آن زمان تعدادی از اشعار بوکفسکی را ترجمه میکردم. شبهایی که پس از کارم که تدوین فیلم بود به خانه برمیگشتم برای پر کردن اوقات فراغتم به ترجمه اشعار بوکوفسکی مشغول شدم. تعدادی از از دوستانم ترجمهام از این اشعار را خواندند و آنها را برای دبیر شعر خارجی نشر چشمه بردند و ایشان هم کار را پسندیدند و اولین کتاب من با نام «سوختن در آب، غرق شدن در آتش» چاپ شد. برای کسانی که میخواهند این حرفه را شروع میکنند پیشنهاد میکنم کتاب ها را برای ناشرها ببرید و ببینید پذیرش دارند یا خیر. اما نوع ترجمه شما بسیار در چاپ آن تعیین کننده است. به نظر من تسلط به زبان مبدا به مراتب بسیار مهم تر از تسلط به زبان مبدا است و اگر نتوانید کتابی را درستی به فارسی برگردانید دچار مشکل میشوید. پیشنهاد من برای تقویت مهارت ترجمه، مطالعه بسیار زیاد است، همچنین باید ترجمه کتابها را با متن کتاب اصلی مقایسه کرده و شیوه ترجمه مترجمهای بزرگ را تحلیل کنید.
پیمان خاکسار پس از ترجمه کدام اثر ادبی در ایران دیده و شناخته شد و معیار گزینش نویسندههایی که آثارشان را ترجمه میکنید چیست؟
اولین کار من که مورد استقبال مردم قرار گرفت «عامه پسند» نوشته چارلز بوکوفسکی بود. در ترجمه هرگز به دنبال پرفروشترینهای سال در جهان و نویسندههای مشهور نیستم چرا که احساس میکنم خودم نقشی در انتخاب و معرفی آن نویسنده نداشتهام و برای مثال، خوانندههای رمان در آمریکا، انگلستان یا نروژ برای من تصمیم گرفتهاند که من چه چیزی را ترجمه کنم. هدف من در ترجمه معرفی نویسنده هایی است که در جهان مهم هستند و در ایران مشهور نیستند و برایم فرقی هم نمیکند که این آثار تا چه اندازه در بازار کتاب فروش بروند. مثلا دنیس جانسون یکی از نویسندههای مطرح آمریکا است که مجموعه کتاب «پسر عیسا» ی او را همه در آمریکا میشناسند و دوست دارند اما پس از ترجمه در ایران از آن استقبال شد و من از ترجمه آن پشیمان نیستم چون نویسنده و کتاب هر دو مهم هستند. در گزینش نویسنده و آثارش، مایل هستم که نقشم در فرآیند انتخاب پررنگ باشد و از صفر تا صد کار را متعلق به خودم بدانم. خودم نویسنده را پیدا کنم، ارزیابی کنم، نقد کنم، به دنیای درونیاش در کتاب زندگی کنم و بعد آثارش را ترجمهش کنم.
آیا در ترجمه به اصل آثار وفادار هستید یا گاهی در برگرداندن کارها در متون اصلی در جملات و کلمات دست میبرید؟
اکثر مترجمهای مطرح امضای خاص خودشان را دارند. میتوانم در این رابطه ترجمههای نجف دریابندری و احمد شاملو را مثال بزنم. مدتی پیش مشغول خواندن اشعار لنگستون هیوز بودم که شاملو آنها را برگردانده بود. متن اصلی شعر مفهوم گیرایی داشت اما از نظر نثر زیبا نبود؛ در متن ترجمه شاملو علاوه بر ترجمه درست مفهوم، شعری با نثری زیبا آفریده بود. من نمیگویم مترجم باید از اصل فاصله بگیرد بلکه به نظرم من تاجایی باید به این فکر کند که اگر نویسنده این کتاب میخواست این جملات را به فارسی بنویسد چگونه مینوشت؟ به نظرم نگرش اشتباهی است که متن اصلی را عینا حتی در جایگذاری کلمات به فارسی برگردانید.
همیشه واهمهای در بین مترجمان ایران وجود دارد که ترجمه یک کتاب حجیم را شروع کنند و به میانه آن که رسیدند ناگهان آن کتاب با ترجمه شخص دیگری منتشر شده و روانه بازار شود. مرجعی وجود دارد که نام کتابها، ناشر و مترجمشان پیش از فرآیند ترجمه در آنجا ثبت شود؟
بله البته. مشکل مترجمهای ایرانی، عدم عضویت ایران در کنوانسیون برن است. ما برخلاف اکثر کشورهای جهان عضوکنوانسیون برن نیستیم، قانون کپی رایت را رعایت نمیکنیم و تا زمانی هم که به عضویت این کنوانسیون درنیاییم این مشکل پا برجاست. اگر قانون کپی رایت رعایت شود، تمام حقوق و امتیاز یک کتاب پیش از ترجمه توسط یک ناشر خریداری میشود و آن ناشر میتواند کتاب را به یکی از مترجمانش بدهد و شخص یا ناشر دیگری هم حق ترجمه و انتشار را نخواهد داشت زیرا طبق قوانین کنوانسیون برن این عمل جرم محسوب میشود، سرقت ادبی است و شخص مجرم باید به زندان برود. متقابلا کشورهای خارجی هم میتوانند از آثار ما در کارهایشان استفاده کنند و ما حق شکایت نداریم زیرا عضو کنوانسیون برن نیستیم و شکایتهای ما به رسمیت شناخته نمیشود.
سهم ادبیات کهن و پارسی را در ترجمه هر چه بهتر و درخشانتر یک کتاب فاخر چقدر میدانید و تا چه اندازه به مطالعه این آثار میپردازید؟
به طور کلی من فرصت زیادی برای خواندن آثار مختلف ندارم. یک سری متن هست که علاقه بسیاری به آنها دارم و همانها را مدام میخوانم. مثلا گلستان سعدی یا عبید زاکانی را بسیار میخوانم ولی تا به حال تاریخ بیهقی را نخواندهام. از آنجایی که باید زبان ترجمه به زبان مردم نزدیک باشد نقش ادبیات مدرن را در ترجمه هر چه بهتر کار، موثرتر میداند و فکر میکنم مطالعه نکردن آثار کلاسیک به کارم لطمه چندانی نمیزند.
دو کتاب شاخص و ممتاز استیو تولتز که «جز از کل» و «ریگ روان» نام دارند را ترجمه کردید که با استقبال چشمگیری در بین مردم مواجه شد. نظرتان درباره نثر اصلی این دو کتاب و نگاه تولتز در آثارش چیست؟
این دو کتاب، بینهایت از لحاظ نثر با هم متفاوت هستند. یک روز داشتم نقدی را میخواندم که در آثار برای اولین بار اسم استیو تولتز به چشمم خورد و آثارش با اتحادیه ابلهان نوشته جان کندی تول مقایسه شده بود. از آنجا آثارش پیدا کردم و مشغول ترجمه آنها شدم. «جز از کل» کتاب سادهای نیست اما در عین حال روان نیست، بر خلاف این اثر «ریگ روان» به معنای واقعی کتاب دشواری است، مثل «جز از کل» قصه گو نیست، پراکنده گویی زیاد دارد و رفت و برگشتهای زمانی مدام در آن اتفاق میافتد، با این وجود من شخصا «ریگ روان» را از «جز از کل رمان» بهتری میدانم و لذت بخش است اگر آدم حوصله کند و بخواند.
در ترجمه کتابها، نگرانی عدم استقبال مردم را ندارید؟
خیر. همانطور که گفتم شخص نویسنده و آثارش بیشتر از هر چیز برای من اهمیت دارد و در این زمینه مخاطب ایرانی قابل پیش بینی نیست. در طول تاریخ، خواننده ایرانی معمولا پا به پای ذائقه جهانی پیش نیامده است به این دلیل که مترجمهای ما عجیب و غریب ترجمه کردهاند مثلا در زمانی که استیون کینگ در تمام جهان طرفدار داشته مترجم ایرانی آثار کلود سیمون را ترجمه کرده است. من وقتی کتابی را شروع میکنم با این تصور که بفروشد کارم را ادامه نمیدهم و معتقدم چنین تصوری اشتباه است. من از روز اول، نویسنده ناشناخته در ایران اما مطرح در جهان را ترجمه و معرفی کردهام و همچنان در این مسیر حرکت کرده و به کارم ادامه میدهم.
نظرتان درباره شرکت در کارگاههای ترجمه چیست؟
من تا به حال نه خودم کارها ترجمه گذاشته ام و نه در این کارگاه ها شرکت کرده ام و نمیتوانم نظر درستی در این رابطه بدهم. به نظرم هم میتواند مخرب باشد و هم میتواند مفید باشد به این شرط که مترجم برجسته و آگاهی در آن تدریس کند
ویژگی شاخص ترجمههای شما، روان بودن متن است. رمز موفقیت شما در این رابطه چیست؟
مترجم باید قدرت فهمیدن و تحلیل هر چه دقیق و درست منظور مولف را داشته باشد. اگر نویسنده در جایی حرف دوپهلویی زدهاست، مترجم باید متوجه شود و مفهوم هر دو پهلو را هم بداند؛ اگر نویسنده ارجاع به چیزی دارد مترجم باید بداند؛ اگر کوچکترین ابهامی در جمله وجود دارد مترجم باید اول آن را برای خودش برطرف کند و پس از آن میتواند ترجمهای روان و خوب ارائه کند زیرا مترجم حرف نویسنده کتاب را کاملا فهمیده است. یک مترجم نباید اجازه بدهد که ارتباط خواننده با متن قطع شود. یکی از مهم ترین ایرادهایی که در ترجمه بعضی کتابها میبینم ترجمه دیالوگ است و خواننده معمولا احساس میکند این دو نفر اصلا جواب همدیگر را نمیدهند. به نظر من تسلط به زبان مقصد که برای ما زبان فارسی است برای ترجمه روان بسیار اهمیت دارد و فهمیدن منظور نویسنده هم در اولین اولویت است.
