بازار فروش و امانت کتاب بر خلاف بازار نشر و انتشارات از بهبود نسبی نسبت به گذشته برخوردار است.

آمار مبنی بر شواهد
محمدرضا بدیع زادگان در مصاحبه با خبرنگار «صبح امروز» میافزاید: با توجه به عدم شاخصه تعیین کننده سرانه مطالعه در ایران، تحلیلهای صورت گرفته بر اساس برداشتهای ما از اطرافیان و اقوام بوده و چون در دورهمیهای دوستانه کتاب و موضوعات کتابها کمتر مورد بررسی و صحبت قرار میگیرد؛ سرانه مطالعه در ایران را پایین فرض میکنیم.

بدیع زادگان نقش رسانهها را در افزایش سرانه مطالعه مهم خواند و تصریح میکند: این رسانهها هستند که با معرفی کتاب های ارزنده می توانند به افزایش سرانه مطالعه کمک کنند.

وی در خصوص چرایی عدم شاخصه سرانه مطالعه در ایران میگوید: اطلاع دقیق از این آمار نیازمند یک پژوهش همگانی و دقیق دارد که متاسفانه در چند سال اخیر این پژوهش صورت نگرفته و آمار دقیقی اعلام نشده و نتایج بیشتر بر اساس شواهد است.
