بازیهای آسیایی مسابقاتی است که در سطح قاره آسیا و با حضور ورزشکاران آسیایی برگزار میشود و به نوعی المپیک آسیایی محسوب میشود. چرا که بسیاری از کشورها از مدتها قبل خود را آماده حضور در این مسابقات میکنند تا بتوانند برای پرچم و کشور خود افتخار آفرین باشند.
این بازیها که آسیاد هم خوانده میشود، رویدادی چند ورزشی است که هر ۴ سال یکبار برگزار میشود. در هر رشته نشانهای طلا برای مقام نخست، نقره برای مقام دوم و برنز برای مقام سوم پخش میشود. نخستین دوره این بازیها در سال ۱۹۵۰ میلادی به میزبانی هند برگزار شد.
دومین دوره بازیهای آسیایی به فاصله ۳ سال از دور اول اجرا شد، اما پس از آن دوره، بازه زمانی ۴ ساله تا به امروز رعایت شدهاست. تا سال ۲۰۱۱ در مجموع ۳۸۸۲ مدال طلا، ۳۸۶۲ مدال نقره و ۴۵۴۸ مدال برنز در میان ورزشکاران حاضر توزیع شدهاست.
هفتمین دوره بازیهای آسیایی بود که از دهم تا بیست و پنجم شهریور ۱۳۵۳ (یکم تا شانزدهم سپتامبر ۱۹۷۴) در تهران برگزار شد. این برای نخستین بار بود که بازیهای آسیایی در خاورمیانه برگزار میشد. مجموعه ورزشی آزادی میزبان اصلی این بازیها بود. این مجموعه و همینطور استادیوم تختی برای این بازیها ساخته شدند.
ایران در این دوره از بازیها میزبان ۳۰۱۰ ورزشکار از ۲۵ کشور بود که بیشترین شمار شرکتکنندگان از آغاز برگزاری بازیهای آسیایی تا آن دوره بود. ۱۸ رشته ورزشی در این مسابقات برگزار شده و در مجموع ۲۰۲ مدال طلا در آن توزیع شد. ۱۹ کشور موفق به کسب مدال و ۱۵ کشور موفق به کسب مدال طلا در این رقابتها شدند. ژاپن برای هفتمین بار پیاپی موفقترین کشور شرکتکننده در بازیهای آسیایی شد و ۷۵ مدال طلا دریافت کرد. ایران با ۳۶ مدال طلا و جمهوری خلق چین که برای نخستین بار در این مسابقات شرکت میکرد با ۳۳ مدال طلا در رتبههای بعدی قرار گرفتند.
در نشست فدراسیون بازیهای آسیایی که ده ماه پیش از بازیها برگزار شد، جمهوری چین (تایوان) از بازیها کنار گذاشته شده و جمهوری خلق چین به جایش به عنوان نماینده کشور چین پذیرفته در بازیهای آسیایی شرکت کرد. مغولستان و کره شمالی دو کشور دیگری بودند که برای نخستین بار در این مسابقات شرکت کردند.
شمشیربازی، ژیمناستیک و بسکتبال زنان برای نخستین بار به بازیها افزوده شدند. افزون بر فناوری پیشرفته بکار رفته در برگزاری بازیها، از پیست مصنوعی تا دوربینهای فتوفینیش، ویژگی دیگر این دوره از بازیها بود.
هفدهمین دوره بازیهای آسیایی از تاریخ ۱۹ سپتامبر ۲۰۱۴ تا ۴ اکتبر در شهر اینچئون، کره جنوبی در ۳۶ رشته ورزشی مختلف انجام شد.
کره جنوبی برای سومین بار بود که میزبانی این مسابقات را بر عهده داشت. این مسابقات در سال ۱۹۸۶ در سئول و در سال ۲۰۰۲ در بوسان برگزار شد. طبق خبر مقامات برگزاری، این بازیها در ۴۰ سالن مسابقه و ۵۶ سالن تمرین موجود برگزار شد.
بازیهای آسیایی ۲۰۱۴ در ۳۶ رشته ورزشی برگزار شد که شامل ۲۸ ورزش المپیکی که در برنامه المپیک ۲۰۱۶ ریودوژانیرو قرار داشتند، به همراه هشت رشته دیگر شامل: بیسبال مردان و سافتبال زنان، بولینگ، کریکت، کبدی، کاراته، سپک تاکرا، اسکواش و ووشو. این فهرست در ۹ دسامبر ۲۰۱۰ در جلسه شورای اجرایی کمیته المپیک آسیا در مسقط قطعی شد. به این ترتیب شش رشته ورزشی اسکیت، ورزشهای صفحهای مانند شطرنج، شیانگچی و ویچی، بیلیارد، دراگون بوت و رقص ورزشی که در بازیهای آسیایی قبلی برگزار شدند، از فهرست مسابقات حذف شدند. رشتههای تیر و کمان رشته کامپاند، جودو تیمی و سهگانه مختلط امدادی هم برای نخستین بار در این دوره از بازیهای آسیایی برگزار شد.
میزبان این رقابتها پس از رایگیری ۱۷ آوریل ۲۰۰۷ مشخص شد و شهر اینچئون کره جنوبی با ۳۲ رای به عنوان میزبان انتخاب شد. رقیب اینچئوندر میزبانی دهلی نو بود که با ۱۳ رای نتوانست میزبان این رقابتها باشد.
ایران در این دوره از رقابت ها با کسب 21 مدال طلا، 18 نقره و 18 برنز و مجموع 57 مدال پس از کشورهای چین، کره جنوبی، ژاپن و قزاقستان در رتبه پنجم جای گرفت.
اما بازیهای آسیایی ۲۰۱۸ هجدهمین دوره بازیهای چندورزشی است که در سطح قاره آسیا برگزار میشود. این دوره از بازیها در شهر جاکارتا پایتخت کشور اندونزی میزبانی میشود. در واقع شهر هانوی ویتنام برای برگزاری بازیها برگزیده شده بود اما به دلیل مشکلات مالی از میزبانی بازیها صرفنظر کرد و میزبانی به شهر جاکارتا داده شد. در این مسابقات 45 کشور به اضافه کشور میزبان اندونزی حضور دارند که در 50 رشته ورزشی به رقابت با یکدیگر میپردازند.
اما ورزشکاران خراسانی نیز در این رقابتها حضور دارند و در حال رقابت با سایر ورزشکاران هستند که از جمله آنان میتوان به سینا غلامپور در شنا، حسن تفتیان در دوی 100 متر و 200متر، جواد محجوب در جودو، امید تیزتک، جعفر پهلوانی، قاسم احدی و قنبرعلی قنبری در کوراش، مهردلان در پرتاب وزنه، محمد دانشور در دوچرخه سواری، سینا زامهران در فوتبال، غزل پاک باطن در تنیس، مهلا عاطفه دار در کانوپولو، مهشید اشتری در تنیس روی میز، روزبه ارغوان و وحید دلیرزهان در بسکتبال، احسان اسرار در سنگ نوردی، مهرداد صمصامی، کاظم جمعه پور و مجتبی حیدرپور در هندبال و نوید خواجهزاده در بسکتبال 3 نفره اشاره کرد.
در این میان رقابت سینا زامهران بازیکن تیم ملی فوتبال امید ایران و باشگاه پدیده با حذف از این رقابتها به پایان رسیده است. مهرداد صمصامی، کاظم جمعه پور و مجتبی حیدرپور بازیکنان تیم ملی هندبال نیز وداعی زود هنگام با این رقابتها داشتند. سینا غلامپور نیز با وجود رکورد شکنی در ماده 100 متر برای ایران به مقام بیست و دوم این رقابتها دست پیدا کرد.
رقابت برخی از این ورزشکاران خراسانی هنوز در جاکارتا آغاز نشده است و باید دید در روزهای آینده و شروع بازیها در برخی رشتهها این ورزشکاران چه افتخاری را برای کشور، استان و خودشان کسب خواهند کرد.
