یکشنبه ظهر مشهد حال و هوای دیگری داشت. در تمام مسیر به این فکر می‌کردم که امروز چگونه خواهد بود و مردم مشهد از سردار چگونه میهمان‌نوازی خواهند کرد. می‌دیدم مردمی را که با پای پیاده از اطراف حرم به سوی میدان 15خرداد می‌رفتند ، اما آنچه که در میدان دیدم چیزی شبیه یک خیال بود. مردمی که قبل از آمدن پیکر شهید سلیمانی در میدان ایستاده بودند و علیه دولت آمریکا و ترامپ شعار می‌دادند. مردمی که خشم و غم‌شان را در مشت‌های گره‌ کرده‌شان به آسمان می‌فرستادند. مداحی که مداحی می‌کرد و بزرگ و کوچکی که سینه می‌زدند و در پهنای چهره اشک می‌ریختند. کودکی که با تمام وجود و از سر خشم شعار می‌داد، مادری که با عکس فرزند شهیدش به میدان آمده بود، پیرمردی که به ایستگاه اتوبوس تکیه داده‌بود و گریه می‌کرد و جوانی که با تمام توان و اقتدار علم‌داری می‌کرد. تمام این‌ها به عشق سردار سلیمانی آمده بودند. ازدحام جمعیت مانع حرکت آسان مردم می‌شد، اما مردمی که با عشق به تشییع سردار شهیدمان آمده بودند، دست یکدیگر را رها نکردند و هرکس گوشه‌ای از کار را گرفته بود و به هم نوع خودش کمک می‌کرد. میهمانان امام مهربانی‌ها به میدان آمدند و تشییع در مسیر خیابان اما رضا آغاز شد و مردم اشک ریزان پیکرهای آسمانی را تا حرم مطهر رضوی همراهی کردند.

شرح آنچه که گذشت و تجمع آن جمعیت میلیونی که در تاریخ شهر مشهد بی بدیل‌ بود، در کلام نمی‌گنجد. اما این را خوب می‌دانم که این مردم با تفکرات و اندیشه‌های مختلف به عشق و به پاس قدردانی از تمام جان‌فشانی‌های سردار سلیمانی به میدان آمدند. آمدند تا بگویند دولت آمریکا تا ابد دشمن ماست و ما دستی به سوی دستان آلوده تروریست‌ها دراز نمی‌کنیم، حتی اگر این تحریم‌های ظالمانه‌ی تحمیلی ما را بر خاک بزند. ما از خون عزیزان‌مان نخواهیم گذشت و آمریکا باید تاوان این جنایت خونین را بدهد و حقارت بکشد.
