لزوم نگاه نوین به مدیریت شهری
طی سال‌های اخیر همزمان با رشد سرسام آور بحران‌های شهری نگاه‌ها به مسائل شهر و چگونگی اداره آن به ویژه کلانشهرها بسیار جدی شده است. بر این اساس باید اذعان داشت که مدیر شهر صرفا یک مهندس معمار و یا عمران نیست، بلکه شهر یک موجود زنده است، به همین دلیل باید این موجود زنده را با ادبیات نوین جهانی اداره کرد.
مدیریت شهری برای اداره مطلوب شهر باید چند مساله را در دستور کار قرار دهد؛ نخست، شهرداری باید در حوزه اجتماعی حضور جدی داشته باشد و نسبت به نحوه تعامل و برخورد با آسیب‌های اجتماعی به درستی آگاه باشد. مدیریت شهری باید تلاش کند که آسیب‌های اجتماعی از طریق سازمان‌های مردم‌نهاد مورد پیگیری قرار گیرد.
دوم؛ امروز مسائل فرهنگی از موضوعات جدی حوزه شهری است. قطعا اقدامات متعارف و معمولی که در دستگاه‌های سنتی و فرهنگی انجام می‌گیرد در حوزه فرهنگی مدیریت شهری نباید شکل بگیرد، بلکه باید زندگی شهری، تعامل شهری، روابط اجتماعی و نشاط اجتماعی از اولویت‌هایی باشد که در بستر فرهنگی تولید و توزیع خواهد شد.
سوم؛ امروز نگاه مدیریت شهری به معماری و ساخت و ساز و مبلمان شهری نباید یک نگاه صرف مهندسی و هندسی باشد. قطعا باید نگاه فرهنگی و هنری به معماری شهری و آیتم‌های موثر در خیابان‌ها به گونه‌ای باشد که بتوان در جامعه نشاط تولید کرده و آرامش را افزایش داده و در نتیجه مدرنیته و سنت را با ارزش‌های فرهنگی ادغام کرد.
چهارم؛ امروز باید در مدیریت شهری این نگاه که با ایجاد درآمدهای ناپایدار مانند فروش هوا می‌توان شهر را اداره کرد، تغییر کند. در واقع نگاه مدیر شهری باید به ایجاد درآمد برای اداره شهر مولد باشد و تولید و سرمایه را در دستور کار خود قرار دهد. مدیریت شهر به جای فروش هوا آیتم‌های متعددی دارد.
